GROWERS
Creating more value with higher yielding varieties, through modern breeding.
Farmers across the High Plains region of the U.S. continue to experience drier conditions that make it difficult to attain high-yielding corn and soybean harvests.
Dryland Genetics specializes in breeding high-performing proso millet that thrives in this climate.

Where Does Proso Millet Fit Into Your Operation?
With a short growing season of only 60-90 days, farmers are able to plant proso millet later in the year and rotate with other small grains, such as wheat and peas. This allows for diversity within a cropping system while still obtaining high performance and profitable yields.
Plus, farmers can use the same soybean head or swather to harvest proso millet.

“Our experience with Dryland Genetics’ seed DLG 240 and DLG 40 has shown us that their seed will produce at least 20%, up to 40%, over the variety we've been using,”
- Chris Stum, Towner, CO
-
“The DLG 240 looked like it would yield a bit more all season, when we harvested it we were pleased with the yields. It was 33% higher yielding than our regular millet. It was also more consistent throughout the field and later maturing and that gave it the chance to add more yield,”
- Kent Kalcevic, Bennet, CO
-
“We appreciate that Dryland Genetics works on both variety improvements and developing more markets for millet in the U.S. which might help eliminate some of our reliance on overseas markets, Dryland Genetics is the first entity geared toward improving our millet program across the board. We are excited to see where it will go.”
- Jack Maranville, Matheson, CO
